Terawatt Opens Its First Medium- and Heavy-Duty EV Charging Site in California
SAN FRANCISCO, April 17, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Terawatt Infrastructure, a company powering electrified fleets with the most reliable network of charging solutions, today announced its medium- and heavy-duty EV charging hub in Rancho Dominguez, California is now fully operational. Located 12 miles north of the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles, the Rancho Dominguez site is strategically positioned to support electric trucking fleet operations in and out of the largest container ports in the United States. First customers include Dreaded Trucking, Hight Logistics, PepsiCo, Quick Container Drayage, Southern Counties Express, Tradelink Transport, and WestCoast Trucking & Warehousing.

The private site, shared among multiple fleets, will house a total of 20 pull-through and bobtail DC fast charging stalls and boast a capacity of 7MW – enabling charging for up to 125 trucks per day. Providing on the go charging for drayage, local, and regional trucking, the Rancho Dominguez site is a reliable source of daily, ultra fast charging for fleets, without requiring them to energize their own depots. Terawatt's straightforward reservation system and 'one vendor' approach to site management ensures fleets have charging when they need it, alongside a proprietary charge management system, in-house technicians, 24/7 customer service, and onsite parts management, increasing accountability and reliability.
"This launch underscores growing collaboration between enterprises, shippers, carriers, and charging infrastructure providers to advance sustainable technologies across logistics and transportation operations, especially in the medium and heavy-duty sectors," said Neha Palmer, CEO and Cofounder of Terawatt. "With the launch of other sites in the Terawatt network – including our upcoming Rialto, CA site in June – fleets can create 'electric lanes' between the ports and the Inland Empire, enabling top-up charging that increases fleets' use of EV assets and drives a better total cost of ownership."
Over the past 18 months, Terawatt has continued to make significant strides to scale fleet EV charging, operating small footprint sites for a range of vehicles, including electric vans, box trucks, daycabs, and school buses, in addition to launching full-build light-duty fleet sites in Inglewood and San Francisco, CA. Alongside world-leading shippers and carriers, Terawatt also launched the I-10 Consortium to pilot heavy-duty EV operations along the I-10 electric corridor.
